Christina Adamo
About Me
Past, Present, and the Future
Christina Adamo is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a B.S. in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, and Design. Based out of Astoria, Queens, Christina has always been passionate about all things clothes, from their design and construction, to their rich history.
During her time in school, Christina studied abroad at Accademia Italiana: Art Moda e Design in Florence, Italy. There, she spent her time focusing mainly on illustration and technical design. After returning to America, Christina spent the summer interning at Plimoth Patuxet Museum in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Here she worked in the wardrobe department creating historically accurate replicas of seventeenth century clothing, and learning the ins and outs of museum work.
Since leaving school, Christina has worked as a tailor for the Navy, based in Newport, Rhode Island, as well as managed a local retail store. These two experiences helped to land her a dream job as a Technical Designer in New York City. As a Technical Designer, Christina's days consist mostly of fitting garments, creating tech packs, and correcting patterns. Her areas of expertise cover denim, knits, wovens, and sweaters, with an emphasis on denim. Brands she has worked on cover Junior, Missy, Plus, Petite, and Tall sizing. Christina is proficient in pattern making using the 3D Program CLO, and believes technology is the future of the tech design field. Being a tech designer has proven to be extremely rewarding and fulfilling as a creative person who loves to make beautiful things!
When she's not working, Christina spends her time playing with her kitty, Ziti, and knitting hats for all of her friends. Thanks for visiting!
